a volunteer’s roadtrip to the pantry

A note posted from Tommy after Saturday’s pantry with Maya (his dog):

It was a pleasure to finally meet Dianne LS Koehler after many texts & Carol Rabun the backbone of Carol’s Kindness Plus. And I must say these Ladies don’t just stand around and direct people where to go…they get in there and get it done multi multitasking at times…From doing the counts on hundreds of items..to lifting and moving multiple lbs of food & drinks, coolers, bins and so much more…It reminded me of Setting up Concerts on a smaller scale, but this time the concert was food with the audience being Families…The Homeless and Less Fortunate.

I would like to acknowledge Mobile Blessings From The Heart Non-Profit Organization also Jeannette Valdez who I have yet to meet…And Travis Heights Christian Outreach where the lovely lady Lona who’s favorite color is Yellow Runs the Food Pantry! These Ladies make it Happin and it makes me think damn maybe we do need a Lady/Woman in the Whitehouse…

At the end of the day I came back to what we call our driveway at the casa and me and Maya passed out these delicious chicken salads to the Amigos that were in the parking lot Someone had donated them to CKFP at the end of the day…Mission Accomplished! Till next time/week…

I meant to add it was interesting to see the one guy from Guatemala who wasn’t sure how to eat a salad so my friend Armondo had these bread rolls…And the guy from Guatemala proceeded to put the salad in the Bread roll…until I handed him a fork and Armondo explained to him how to eat salad with a fork.
