Accessibility Statement for Carol’s Kindness Food Pantry

Carol’s Kindness is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Carol’s Kindness is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

• Colors that meet or exceed minimum contrast levels
• Descriptive alternative text for images that are not considered decorative
• Clear focus rings for keyboard users
• Clear hover and active states for page navigation
• Landmarks used for header, main, footer and articles
• Used relative font sizing so that it can expand and reflow when in different viewports
• Links to external websites open in a new window, but warn assistive technology that they will open in a new window
• Clean layout with ample spacing for ease of reading
