We have been waiting to get a great photo of Linda to post but all I ever catch is sweaty or wet so we are going with those.
We have so many fantastic volunteers at the pantry every week but this month we are honoring Linda Weidenhammer. This woman who steps up for anything any time. She picks up food daily, sorting it and putting it away; packs and transports the food to Gus Garcia on Friday and Saturday; and helps bring coolers, crates, pallets and dollies back on Saturday. On top of that she manages the bread area at the pantry on Saturday too.
As a high point of the week leading up to July 5th Linda slogged through torrential rains to transport salvaged food on Thursday to Carol’s and again on Saturday to Gus Garcia Rec Center. Totally soaked with water running from her hair and clothes, she looked just perfect to me!
Linda has a long history of volunteering. She volunteered at a Pflugerville animal shelter for quite some time. She started volunteering at the pantry about 2 years ago with her partner Lori. They came faithfully every week between falls and hospitalizations assisting at the tables at the pantry.
