I met with the student council students at Wooldridge Elementary School to receive their food drive donation and they were fantastic. In a few short weeks they and their classmates collected and boxes up over 467 pounds of food for the pantry.

I got to talk to them about the importance of being able to shop at the pantry for the foods they and their family would eat vs just being given a generic bag of food. There was a great variety in the food they collected, mostly cans which we always need. We also got to practice safe lifting and cart pushing, sorting the types of foods for easier storage too.

After the holiday break the students are invited for a field trip to Carol’s Kindness to see how the food is stored and an imitation to the students and their parents to visit the pantry on Saturday to see how the food is given out to people. Special thanks to teacher Liz Rocha and the team of teachers who work with the students.
