Registration Information for Saturday Volunteers

Carol’s Kindness+ provides food pantry services to all persons in need of food, according to food items donated to us. Thank you for volunteering to help out at the pantry!

We ask that all volunteers sign up on our Volunteer page.

We have many volunteers that drop in to unload cars and carry food into the building. We appreciate this, but too many hand make it too crowded to work in the space we have. We will sign you in and assign you tasks. You may be asked to stay out front or out back to assist with moving items in and around the pantry area.

    Obtaining Your Food

    • After setup has completed, you will then be allowed to select food items within the same limits as non-volunteers, of typically one or two items per table. We store left over dry goods so there is no need to rush to use them up or take extras home. You are expected to bring two bags to the pantry to carry home your selections. We frequently have paper bags available depending on donations, but rarely have plastic bags.
    • Once you have served yourself, you may not return to select other items or repeatedly browse food areas. This becomes confusing for others and slows down the start of pantry services.
    • Occasionally, volunteers are asked to pick up food for a friend or neighbor who cannot attend the pantry. Please notify the pantry manager or assistant to get approval, then sign in their information for our records.

    Expected Behavior

    • We depend on our volunteers to be able to stay the entire shift and assist with all tasks. If you are physically unable to do certain things, let the pantry manager know. There are more than enough tasks to go around.
    • We are a smoke-free facility. Per city policy, smoking and vaping is not allowed within 15 feet of doorways.
    • Carol’s Kindness+ requests that all pantry participants behave appropriately and treat all volunteers and other pantry participants with respect and dignity. This includes:
      • No swearing or foul language as we have children present.
      • No fighting at pantry. This includes verbal and physical situations. Refer issues to the pantry manager.
      • We are 100% volunteers and appreciate your respect and cooperation.
      • You may not bring alcohol, drugs or weapons of any kind into the food pantry as we are on city property.
    • Help us keep the area orderly by picking things up, notifying us if there is a spill, breaking down boxes, regularly taking the recycling cart to the dumpster, putting up and taking down tables, and moving chairs as needed.
